EcoNauru has officially formed a partnership agreement with UNOPS, Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme). UNOPS has appointed EcoNauru to be the National Host Institution for the GEF Small Grants Programme and will have an operative budget under the 6th Operative Phase (OP6), and may also continue towards the 7th Operative Phase 7 (OP7). The Small Grants Programme gives Nauru’s communities opportunities for SGP grants direct to community-based organizations (CBOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in recognition of the key role they play as a resource and constituency for environment and development concerns. SGP complements the large and medium-sized GEF project funding by providing a window for the direct participation of NGOs, local communities, and other grassroots organizations.
EcoNauru will be advertising soon its recruitment process for a National Coordinator to oversee and manage the GEF SGP.
